Citizen views will shape our report to the house on bill, Finance Committee pledges as hearings in counties commence

The Departmental Committee on Finance and National Planning has commenced public hearings on the Finance Bill, 2025 in counties, with an assurance to the public that their contributions will directly influence the Bill's final proposals. 

𝐈𝐄𝐁𝐂 𝐕𝐄𝐓𝐓𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐔𝐏𝐃𝐀𝐓𝐄| Ms. Fahima Araphat Abdalla, the final nominee for the position of IEBC Commissioner. Born in Lamu County in 1992, she is a governance and finance expert with notable public service and leadership experience.

Ms. Fahima holds a Master’s in Project Planning & Management (UoN), a Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting (KU), and CPA (Advanced). She has served as a CECM, MCA Service Board Member, and Ward Administrator in Lamu County.

𝐈𝐄𝐁𝐂 𝐕𝐄𝐓𝐓𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐔𝐏𝐃𝐀𝐓𝐄| Prof. Francis Odhiambo Aduol is a Proffessor at the School of Surveying and Spatial Sciences at the Technical University of Kenya and a Geospatial Science expert, appeared before the JLAC Committee where he underscored the critical role of boundary delimitation and geospatial mapping in electoral integrity.

Prof. Aduol holds a PhD in Geodesy and degrees in Surveying and Economics. He highlighted his direct role with the Interim Independent Boundaries Review Commission of Kenya IIBRC in creating the 290 constituencies.

𝐈𝐄𝐁𝐂 𝐕𝐄𝐓𝐓𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐔𝐏𝐃𝐀𝐓𝐄| Mr. Hassan Noor Hassan nominated as Member of Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) informed the Committee that he is well-suited for the role, stating, “I bring unmatched geographic knowledge of this country.

𝐈𝐄𝐁𝐂 𝐕𝐄𝐓𝐓𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐔𝐏𝐃𝐀𝐓𝐄| The fourth nominee to appear before the Justice and Legal Affairs Committee is Ms. Mary Karen Sorobit, an advocate with over 25 years of experience in law, governance, and public service.

Ms. Sorobit previously worked at the Law Society of Kenya, Jubilee Party, Judges & Magistrates Vetting Board, and the 2016 IEBC Selection Panel.

𝐈𝐄𝐁𝐂 𝐕𝐄𝐓𝐓𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐔𝐏𝐃𝐀𝐓𝐄| Dr. Moses Alutalala Mukhwana is currently before the Justice and Legal Affairs Committee. He is an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya.

Dr. Alutalala is the Lead Attorney of a distinguished law firm, holds a Certificate in Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) from Florida, USA, and is a member of the American Society of NLP.

𝐈𝐄𝐁𝐂 𝐕𝐄𝐓𝐓𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐔𝐏𝐃𝐀𝐓𝐄 | Second to appear before the Justice and Legal Affairs Committee is Ms. Ann Njeri Nderitu, the immediate former Registrar of Political Parties.

𝐔𝐏𝐃𝐀𝐓𝐄: Residents of Nairobi County have turned up to share their view points on the #FinanceBill2025 and the Virtual Asset Service Providers Bill, 2025 at the Edge Convention Center, in South C.
