Finance Committee pledges enhanced civic education on future legislation

The National Assembly's Departmental Committee on Finance and National Planning, led by Chairperson Hon. Kuria Kimani, has committed to increasing civic education on the Finance Bill before public participation begins. 

This pledge follows concerns raised by the public regarding the technical language often used in drafting legislation.

The National Assembly Committee on Public Debt and Privatization chaired by Hon. Abdi Shurie (Balambala) has met the Energy Principal Secretary Mr. Alex Wachira who briefed them on the use of loans amounting to Kshs 68.65 billion acquired by the government from external bilateral and multilateral creditors between 1st September and 31st December 2024.

Kipsang, to deliberate on the progress of the Shirika Plan, a landmark government-led strategy aimed at transforming the refugee response in Kenya.

House Committee sends away CBK Governor over missing supporting documents

The Governor of the Central Bank of Kenya (CBK) Dr. Kamau Thugge, was turned away by the National Assembly’s Committee on Cohesion and Equal Opportunities after he failed to present required documents to support his submissions.

Dr. Thugge had been summoned to respond to concerns relating to ethnic diversity and equal opportunity practices within the CBK.
