IEBC vetting update | Ms. Fahima Araphat Abdalla, the final nominee for the position of IEBC Commissioner

𝐈𝐄𝐁𝐂 𝐕𝐄𝐓𝐓𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐔𝐏𝐃𝐀𝐓𝐄| Ms. Fahima Araphat Abdalla, the final nominee for the position of IEBC Commissioner. Born in Lamu County in 1992, she is a governance and finance expert with notable public service and leadership experience.

Ms. Fahima holds a Master’s in Project Planning & Management (UoN), a Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting (KU), and CPA (Advanced). She has served as a CECM, MCA Service Board Member, and Ward Administrator in Lamu County.

The nominee shared her passion for youth empowerment, citing her role in founding Shella Women’s Empowering Group, which has educated over 40 marginalized women in Lamu.

Hon. Michael Muchira asked about boost voter registration. He asked, “How will you ensure youth move beyond social media commentary to active participation in the election process?”

Hon. Aden Daud asked how her finance background could help reduce the high cost of elections. Hon. Muchangi Karemba inquired on impactful strategies to positively engage youth in democratic processes.
