The approval hearings come after H.E. the President Dr. William Ruto nominated FCPA Sophie Moturi, CPA Abdullahi Abdi, Ms Beatrice Kosgei and Mr David Owuor for appointment to serve in the Board.
The CBK Board provides oversight of the Bank's functions by formulating policies, besides the formulation of Monetary Policy, and reviewing of its performance.
According to the Central Bank of Kenya Act, the Chairperson and the Board Members are appointed by the President with the approval of Parliament and hold office for a period of four years with a possibility for re-appointment for a further term of four years.
The Committees will subsequently retreat to prepare a report on the suitability of the four nominees, and thereafter table it for consideration in the respective Houses.
