Approval hearings for two (2) Cabinet Secretary nominees

The Committee on Appointments Chaired by the Speaker of the National Assembly, Rt. Hon. (Dr.) Moses Wetang’ula is scheduled to conduct approval hearings today Monday, 14th April 2025, for two (2) cabinet secretary nominees appointed by His Excellency the President as follows—

1. 𝐇𝐨𝐧. 𝐆𝐞𝐨𝐟𝐟𝐫𝐞𝐲 𝐊. 𝐊𝐢𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐚 𝐑𝐮𝐤𝐮, 𝐌.𝐏 – Nominee for Cabinet Secretary, Public Service, Human Capital Development and Special Programmes at 𝐓𝐢𝐦𝐞: 𝟐:𝟎𝟎 𝐩.𝐦. - 𝟒.𝟎𝟎 𝐩.𝐦.

2. 𝐌𝐬. 𝐇𝐚𝐧𝐧𝐚 𝐖𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐨𝐭 𝐂𝐡𝐞𝐩𝐭𝐮𝐦𝐨 – Nominee for Cabinet Secretary, Gender, Culture, The Arts and Heritage at 𝐓𝐢𝐦𝐞: 𝟒:𝟎𝟎 𝐩.𝐦. - 𝟔:𝟎𝟎 𝐩.𝐦.

This follows the receipt of the nominations from H.E. the President and conveying of the Message to the National Assembly on Tuesday, 1st April, 2025 and referring the names and curriculum vitae of the nominees to the Committee on Appointments for consideration and reporting to the House. 

The Parliamentary approval of appointments to public offices is governed by the Constitution, the Public Appointments (Parliamentary Approval) Act and the National Assembly Standing Orders. 

The Constitution, the Public Appointments (Parliamentary Approval) Act and the Standing Orders require the relevant Committees to conduct approval hearings of the nominees to ascertain their suitability for appointment.
