The National Drought Management Authority presents views to Environment Committee on the Meteorology Bill (Senate Bill no. 45) of 2023.𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐥𝐢𝐚𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐁𝐮𝐢𝐥𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐬, 𝐁𝐮𝐧𝐠𝐞 𝐓𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐫.𝐓𝐡𝐮𝐫𝐬𝐝𝐚𝐲 𝐀𝐩𝐫𝐢𝐥 𝟏𝟎𝐭𝐡, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟓.
The Chief Executive Officer of the National Drought Management Authority (NDMA) Lt Col (Rtd) Hared Hassan Adan today appeared before the National Assembly's Departmental Committee on Environment Forestry and Mining to present the agencies proposals for the review of the Meteorology Bill (Senate Bill No. 45) of 2023.
In Company of his Director Mr. Nelson Mutanda, the team presented a number of proposals for consideration including the inclusion of a person with knowledge in drought management in the proposed board.
"Hon. Members, 80% of this country is arid and semi arid, even counties of Migori, Homa Bay and Siaya have been brought in, therefore having someone with this qualifications will add value to the Authority", said Lt Col Rtd Hared Hassan.
His sentiments were supported by Hon. Charity Kathambi (Njoro) who applauded the work of the Agency in the country.
Committee Chair Hon. Vincent Musyoka guided that all their proposals must be guided by the Code of Governance for State Corporations (Mwongozo).
