Hon. Karemba takes over CIOC leadership, as Hon. Kamket secures the Vice-Chairperson slot๐๐๐๐ง๐๐ฌ๐๐๐ฒ, ๐๐๐ญ๐ก ๐๐๐ซ๐๐ก, ๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐ซ๐ฅ๐ข๐๐ฆ๐๐ง๐ญ ๐๐ฎ๐ข๐ฅ๐๐ข๐ง๐ ๐ฌ
Runyenjes MP, Hon. Eric Karemba has been elected unopposed as the new Chairperson of the National Assemblyโs Constitutional Implementation Oversight Committee (CIOC), succeeding Hon. Gathoni Wamuchomba (Githunguri).
In the election conducted following Speaker Moses Wetangโulaโs directive to reconstitute Parliamentary Committees, Hon. William Kamket (Tiaty) secured the position of Vice-Chairperson, beating Hon. Teresia Mwangi (Nominated) by nine votes to four.
In his acceptance speech, Hon. Karemba pledged to build on the solid foundation laid by his predecessor. โI commit myself to robust and effective deliberations that uphold the Committeeโs mandate of overseeing Constitutional Implementation. I also thank Hon. Mwangi for putting up a strong contest,โ he said.
The Committee has also welcomed several new members who are expected to inject fresh energy and diverse perspectives into its oversight functions.
The Committee acknowledged that with Hon. Kamket now assisting as Vice-Chair, CIOC is set for a renewed phase of parliamentary oversight and accountability.
