In Pictures: Members of the National Assembly Education Committee today met to review a Report on the Committee's consideration of the Vocational Training Bill, 2022.
The Vocational Training Bill seeks to provide a framework for establishment of systems for the administration of systems for the administration of training in Vocational Education and training within a county.
The Bill has provisions including defining roles between the national and county governments in the implementation of vocational education and obligating county governments to provide facilities and infrastructure to cater to trainees with special needs.
During deliberations on the Bill, Committee Members expressed dissatisfaction with the state of village polytechnics and vocational training centres, arguing that counties already lack sufficient funds to finance early childhood development (ECD) centers and may not have the capacity to handle technical and vocational education and training (TVETs).
Members of the Committee called on the sponsor of the Bill to relook at the provisions and re-define national and county manages on village polytechnics, vocational training centres and TVETS.
