The National Assembly Departmental Committee on Environment Forestry and Miming was today taken through the analysis of the Budget Policy Statement (BPS) for the financial year 2025/26 and the Medium Term.

The brief has been done in readiness to the Committee's plan to meet the Ministries, Departments and Agencies under it's purview. They include the State Department for Environment and Climate Change, State Department for Forestry and the State Department for Mining.

Committee Members led by session Chair Hon. Joseph Emathe (Turkana Central) however raised issues on why some fourth medium term policy priorities have not been captured in the 2025 Budget Policy Statement regardless of the increment in the ceilings of all States Departments under the purview of the Committee.

The Committee is set to meet the MDAs on Thursday this week to receive their submissions before they are presented before the National Assembly Budget and Appropriations Committee.
